Storm Damage Repair in Palatka, Done in the Right Order

After a hard wind or a tropical storm, you need to know what happened to your roof, what the fix involves and how insurance fits in. We inspect at no charge, photograph what we find, keep water out of your home, then repair it properly.

What Storm Damage Repair Covers

A storm seldom leaves a single obvious hole. What we usually find is subtler: a run of shingles whose adhesive strips released in the gusts, a ridge cap nudged out of place, a dented metal panel, or flashing peeled back from a wall. Any of these lets water creep in, and the ceiling stain might not appear for weeks.

We start by finding the cause and showing it to you, then give you a straight answer on whether a targeted repair will hold or whether the damage is wide enough that a section, or the whole roof, should be replaced. If it is a repair, we do it. If it points to roof replacement, we explain why in plain terms and let you decide.

As a licensed general contractor, we pull the permit when the work calls for one and build the repair to the Florida Building Code, not just to stop today's drip.

What the Work Includes

A free post-storm inspection
We walk the roof surface, check the edges, valleys, vents and penetrations, and look in the attic where we can reach it. Daylight through the decking or damp insulation tells us more than the shingles alone.
Photos you can keep
Every damaged area is photographed with enough context to show where it sits on the roof. You get the images whether or not you hire us.
Temporary protection
If water is getting in and the repair cannot happen right away, we secure the opening with a fastened tarp so the damage does not spread to the decking and ceilings below.
Working with your adjuster
We work directly with your insurance adjuster on storm damage claims, meeting on site when it helps and walking through what we found. The claim decision stays with your insurer; our job is to make sure the damage is seen clearly.
The repair itself
Damaged shingles, underlayment, flashing, drip edge or metal panels are replaced and fastened to current code, matched as closely as available materials allow. Wet or soft decking is cut out and replaced rather than covered over.
Cleanup and a final look
Before we leave, a magnetic sweeper goes over the lawn, beds and driveway to catch stray nails, and the torn-off material leaves on our truck. Then we show you the finished area. Our repairs carry a 5-year workmanship warranty.

Signs Your Roof Took Storm Damage

  • Shingle scraps on the lawn

Torn tabs or bits of ridge cap turning up after a blow mean the wind caught a weak edge. Shingles next to the missing ones have often lost their bond as well.

  • Creased or lifted tabs

A shingle that flapped in the wind leaves a horizontal crease across it. It may lie flat now, but it no longer sheds water the way it should.

  • New ceiling stains or attic drips

Water marks that appear after heavy rain usually trace back to flashing, a vent boot or an opening the wind created. The spot inside is rarely directly below the entry point.

  • Bent flashing or loose metal

Flashing pulled away from a chimney or wall, or metal roof panels with lifted seams or popped fasteners, will leak on the next wind-driven rain.

  • Damage from limbs

Even a branch that rolled off can crack shingles or bruise the decking underneath. Overflowing or pulled-down gutters are worth a look too, and we can cover that under our gutters work.

How a Storm Repair Runs

  1. 1

    You book a visit

On the call, describe what you have spotted and roughly which storm it followed. We set a time for a technician visit and confirm when to expect us.

  2. 2

    Inspection and photos

We inspect the roof and attic, photograph the damage and explain what caused it. You hear whether it is a repair or a bigger conversation before anything is priced.

  3. 3

    Written scope and insurance

We put the repair in writing, line by line. If you are filing a claim, we share our findings with your adjuster and help you understand what they review, without speaking for your insurer.

  4. 4

    Repair day

We protect landscaping and walkways, remove only what is damaged, replace it to code and clean up before we leave. You see the finished work and the photos of what was underneath.

What Moves the Cost of a Storm Repair

We price storm repairs after the inspection, not over the phone, because the visible damage is only part of the story. The estimate you receive breaks the job into separate lines, so nothing is lumped together. Financing is available if the repair is larger than you planned for.

How far the damage spreads
A few replaced shingles is a small job. Lost seal strips across a whole slope, or damage on several sides, takes more material and time.
The condition underneath
Wet or delaminated decking has to be replaced. We only know how much once the damaged covering is lifted, and we show you before adding it.
Roof material and pitch
Metal panels, architectural shingles and older discontinued shingles each cost differently to match. Steep slopes need more safety setup.
Code and permit requirements
Florida code can limit how much of a roof is patched before that area must meet current standards. If your repair crosses that line, we tell you up front and explain what it changes.

Storm Damage Questions

Something not covered here? (904) 789-5019

Is the post-storm inspection really free?

Yes. We inspect, photograph what we find and explain it at no cost and with no obligation. You are free to use the photos however you like.

Should I call my insurance company first or you?

Either order is fine. Plenty of homeowners like to have our inspection in hand before opening a claim, since it shows whether the roof actually took a hit from the storm and gives them photos to attach. Once a claim is open, we work directly with your adjuster.

Will insurance pay for my repair?

Coverage comes down to the terms of your policy, the size of your deductible and the adjuster's own findings. We cannot promise how a claim will turn out. We can document the damage clearly and explain how storm damage differs from ordinary wear.

Can you just patch it, or do I need a new roof?

Most storm damage we see is repairable. When the damage is widespread, the roof was already near the end of its life, or code requires it, a replacement may make more sense. We tell you which applies and why, so you can decide with the facts in front of you.

Do you work outside Palatka?

Yes. We take storm repair calls across the surrounding area, including Green Cove Springs, Palm Coast and St. Augustine. The Service Areas page lists the communities we cover.

Had a Storm Pass Over Your Roof?

Have it looked at before the next rain finds the weak spot. We will show you what happened and what the repair involves.
