What Moves the Price of Roof Work

Two roofs of the same size can cost very different amounts. The difference usually sits in a handful of factors, and we explain each one on your estimate. Nothing on the final bill should be a surprise.

Your estimate is free and carries no obligation. Financing is available if you would rather spread the cost of a larger job over time.

Roof size and pitch
Larger roofs need more material and labor. Steeper pitches need extra safety setup and move more slowly, which adds time.
Condition of the decking
Plywood that has stayed damp under a failed spot can go soft or rot. Much of that damage stays hidden until tear-off, which is why your estimate already states how any replacement sheet will be charged.
Material choice
Architectural shingles and standing seam or exposed-fastener metal differ in cost, lifespan and how they handle heat and wind. We compare them on your own roof, not in the abstract.
Old roofing still in place
Some homes were reroofed over the original shingles years ago. Both layers have to come off, so the crew spends longer stripping the deck and the dumpster fills faster.
Flashing, vents and details
Chimneys, skylights, valleys and plumbing boots each need their own flashing work. A simple gable roof costs less to finish than one with many intersecting planes.
Permit and code items
Reroofing in Florida requires a permit and work to the Florida Building Code, including specific underlayment and nailing patterns. We pull the permit and include it in the estimate.

How We Work on Your Roof

Most roofing worries come down to two things: not knowing what is really wrong, and not knowing what it will cost. We handle both before a single shingle comes off.

  1. 01

The cause comes before the quote

A water stain on the ceiling rarely sits under the actual leak. We trace water back along the decking and flashing to where it enters, then tell you what failed. You hear the diagnosis first and the price second.

  2. 02

    Repair when repair will hold

If a section of flashing or a few lifted shingles is the problem, we say so. We recommend replacement only when the decking, underlayment or overall wear means patching would just move the leak somewhere else.

  3. 03

    Photos of what we found

You may never climb onto your roof, so we bring the roof to you. Our technician photographs cracked boots, soft decking and worn granules, and walks you through each image.

  4. 04

    Line-item estimates

Tear-off, decking, underlayment, flashing, ventilation, permit and disposal are listed separately. You can see where the money goes and ask about any line.

  5. 05

Care for the property around the roof

We cover shrubs and AC units, keep debris off your lawn, and sweep the yard and driveway with a magnet before we leave each day.

About Roofing Palatka

We are a roofing company serving homeowners in Palatka and the towns around it. Our work is roofs and gutters, and we keep it that way so every crew member knows the craft well: how shingles seal in summer heat, how metal panels expand and contract, how water travels under a lifted tab.

We prefer short, direct conversations. When you ask what is wrong, we name the part. When you ask what it costs, we show you the lines. When a repair will hold for years, we tell you that instead of selling a new roof.

How a Roof Job Runs

Every job follows the same order, so you always know what happens next.

  1. 1

    Book a technician visit

You reach us by phone and we set a time for a technician to come to your home. There is no charge for the visit.

  2. 2

    Inspection and findings

The technician checks the roof surface, flashing, vents, gutters and, where accessible, the attic. You get the cause, photos, and a clear view of your options.

  3. 3

    Written estimate

You receive a line-item estimate that separates materials, labor, permit and disposal. If storm damage is involved, we can work directly with your insurance adjuster.

  4. 4

    The work day

The crew protects landscaping, completes tear-off and decking repairs, installs underlayment and the new roof, then finishes flashing and ridge details. Roof size and rain are the two things that most often stretch the schedule, and we tell you if either will.

  5. 5

    Walk-through and cleanup

Together we look over the finished roof, edge to ridge. The yard gets a last sweep, and we see the permit through its final inspection.

Roofing Questions We Hear Most

Something not covered here? (904) 789-5019

Should my roof be patched or replaced?

Two things decide it: what actually failed and how far the damage has spread. A cracked pipe boot, a loose flashing seam or a handful of lifted shingles can usually be fixed on their own. When granules are worn off across whole slopes, or the decking has gone soft in more than one spot, a patch only buys a short time and replacement is the better use of your money. We show you the photos and tell you which side your roof falls on.

Is the estimate really free?

Yes. The technician visit and the written estimate cost nothing and carry no obligation. You can take the estimate, think it over and decide on your own schedule.

Can you help with an insurance claim after a storm?

We offer free post-storm inspections and document the damage with photos. We can work directly with your insurance adjuster on storm damage claims. Coverage is the adjuster's call. Our part is having every damaged area photographed, measured and explained so nothing gets left out of the conversation.

Is there a guarantee on a new roof?

Yes. Every new roof installation we complete comes with a no-leak guarantee. We go over exactly what it covers when we hand you your estimate.

Is metal roofing worth it here?

Metal handles heat and wind well and lasts longer than shingles, but it costs more up front. It makes the most sense if you plan to stay in your home for many years. We price both options on the same estimate so you can compare them side by side.

Do you pull the permit?

Yes. Roof replacement requires a permit, and we handle the application and the inspection. The permit cost is listed on your estimate.

Do you offer financing?

Financing is available. We can explain the options during your visit so you know how a larger job would fit your budget.
