Palatka Gutters, Sized and Pitched to Carry Heavy Rain

Good gutters keep roof water off your fascia, away from your slab and out of the beds below the eaves. We look first, then tell you what has failed, what the fix involves and what each option costs, all before a single bracket comes down.

Gutters Are Part of the Roof

A gutter has one job: collect the water coming off your roof and put it somewhere harmless. When it sags, clogs or is simply too small, that water spills behind the gutter, soaks the fascia board and the edge of the roof deck, and pools against the slab. The damage is slow and easy to miss until the wood is soft.

Florida summer storms can dump a lot of rain in a short burst, often more than older 5-inch systems were sized for. Sometimes the fix is a resealed joint or a rehung section. Sometimes the gutter is undersized or the fascia behind it has rotted, and patching would waste your money. We tell you which it is and why.

We are a licensed general contractor, and because we also handle roof repair and roof replacement, we look at how the gutter meets the drip edge and shingles, not just the gutter on its own.

What Our Gutter Work Covers

One-piece aluminum gutters

We roll each gutter from a coil right in your driveway and cut it to fit the eave it hangs on. Joints appear only where a corner or a downspout outlet needs one, which leaves far fewer spots for water to escape. You can choose 5-inch or 6-inch K-style profiles in a range of factory-finished colors.

Downspouts sized to the roof

A larger gutter does little if the downspout chokes. We size downspouts to the roof area they drain, often moving to 3x4 inch, and add extensions so water lands well away from your home.

Repairs and rehanging

Leaking end caps, separated corners and sagging runs get resealed, refastened or rehung with hidden hangers set close enough to carry a full load of water and leaves.

Fascia and drip edge review

We press along the fascia boards for soft spots and look at whether the drip edge sends runoff into the trough or lets it slip behind. Any rotted wood we find is shown to you and listed with its own price, never hidden under new metal.

Gutter guards where they help

Under heavy oak and pine cover, a quality guard can cut cleaning to a fraction. Where trees are sparse, we will tell you a guard is not worth the cost.

Signs Your Gutters Need Attention

Rain spilling over the lip
Watch the gutter during a hard rain. If water pours across the outer edge instead of heading for the downspout, the trough is blocked, sloped the wrong way or too small for the roof feeding it.
Stains or peeling paint on the fascia
Dark streaks and lifting paint behind the gutter mean water is getting where it should not. Left alone, this becomes rot.
Sagging or pulled-away sections
Gutters full of wet debris are heavy. When hangers loosen, the run sags, holds standing water and pulls further each storm.
Erosion or puddles at the foundation
Washed-out mulch, bare trenches under the eaves or water sitting against the slab point to a downspout that is missing, crushed or discharging too close.
Drips at seams and corners
Old sectional gutters leak at every joint as the sealant ages. Small drips here are often the first sign a system is near the end of its life.

How a Gutter Job Runs

  1. 1

A visit and a straight answer

A technician walks the roofline, checks pitch, hangers, seams, fascia and downspout discharge, and photographs what matters. You hear whether repair or replacement makes sense and the reason for it.

  2. 2

    A written estimate

You get a free, no-obligation estimate listing gutter size, downspout count, any fascia work and guards as separate lines, so you can choose what to do now.

  3. 3

    Removal and prep

On install day we take down the old system, haul it away and repair or replace any fascia approved in the estimate. Plantings under the eaves are protected while we work.

  4. 4

    Forming and hanging

Gutters are cut to length on site, set with a steady slope toward each outlet and fastened with hidden hangers. A typical single-story home is done in one day.

  5. 5

    Flow test and cleanup

Before packing up, we put a hose in each run and watch the water travel to its outlet and out the extension. Then we walk the yard for cut-offs, screws and rivets so nothing is left in the grass.

How Gutter Pricing Adds Up

Your gutter price comes from how much metal goes on your home and whether the roof edge needs repair before it can carry that metal. Each of those appears as a separate line on your estimate. Financing is available if you prefer to pay over time.

Linear feet and stories
Total length of the runs is the base of the price. Second-story eaves take more ladder work and time than single-story ones.
Gutter size and downspouts
Six-inch gutters and 3x4 downspouts use more metal than 5-inch and 2x3, and the number of outlets your roof needs adds to the total.
Condition of the fascia
Sound fascia adds nothing. Soft or rotted boards must be replaced before new gutters can hold, and that work is listed on its own line.
Guards and extras
Gutter guards, underground drain connections and extra corners on complex rooflines all add cost. Each is optional and priced separately.

Gutter Questions, Answered Plainly

How big should my new gutters be?
That comes down to how much roof drains into each run, how steep it is and whether valleys concentrate water in one spot. Plenty of homes are well served by 5-inch gutters paired with bigger downspouts. Long eaves, steep pitches and valley outlets usually push the answer to 6-inch. We measure on the visit and give you a clear recommendation.
Can my existing gutters be repaired?
Often, yes. Loose hangers, failed end caps and a sagging section are routine repairs. If the system is sectional with leaking seams throughout, or the fascia behind it is soft, replacement is the better use of your money, and we will show you why.
Are gutter guards worth it?
Under heavy tree cover, a good guard saves a lot of ladder time and keeps downspouts from clogging. With few trees nearby, occasional cleaning costs less than guards. We give you an honest read for your yard.
Is the work covered after you leave?
Yes. Our gutter installations carry a 5-year workmanship warranty, which covers how the system was hung, sealed and pitched.
Should gutters be replaced along with a new roof?
Not always, but it is worth timing them together. A roof replacement often means new drip edge, and gutters are easier to fit correctly against it. If your gutters are sound, we leave them in place and say so.
